About CIMAF
CIMAF, owned by Morocco's Ciments de l'Afrique, entered Ghana in 2011 as a value competitor and prices near the bottom of the range alongside Dzata. Its arrival, with Dangote's and Dzata's, broke up the old near-monopoly and is part of why cement is more competitively priced today than a decade ago. For structural work it meets the same grade standard as the premium brands, so the choice against Dzata usually comes down to whichever is cheaper and available at your yard on the day.

Against Dzata the decision comes down to the day's price and what your nearest yard stocks — check both before you commit.

Common questions
How much is CIMAF cement in Ghana today?
A 50kg bag of CIMAF 42.5R (50kg 42.5R) is about ₵104 in Greater Accra, roughly 2% above the cheapest established major. Cement moves monthly with the cedi — confirm at the yard.Is CIMAF good cement?
CIMAF is the Moroccan-owned value entrant since 2011, priced near the bottom of the range. For a given grade the compressive strength is standardised, so CIMAF's 42.5R is structurally equivalent to any other brand's 42.5R; brands differ mainly on bagging consistency and setting behaviour. Why does the CIMAF price change?
Because cement tracks the cedi. CIMAF is ground in Tema by the Moroccan Ciments de l'Afrique group, and clinker and gypsum — cement's main inputs — are dollar-priced imports, so a weaker cedi lifts the bag price within weeks. Manufacturers' own price notices routinely cite the exchange rate as the reason. How many bags of CIMAF for a 3-bedroom house?
A standard 150-square-metre three-bedroom shell takes on the order of 450 to 550 bags of any brand, CIMAF included. At ₵104 a bag that is a substantial line item, which is why the brand choice matters. The build calculator on the main build page estimates it for your size. What grade is CIMAF cement?
CIMAF 42.5R is 50kg 42.5R. The grade — not the brand — determines structural strength, so match it to the job: 42.5R for load-bearing structure, a lower grade for blockwork and plaster.
